CH Touche's Let The Good Times Roll

Talk to you soon,
Valerie

Hi Dale and Jane

You probably don't remember but you were great enough t send me a sable female puppy a couple of years ago (CH Pongee Topsey Turvey x Chic Cultured Pearl of Touche, 9/17/06). THEN I ran into Lois and Pam and Mimsy Magette yesterday at the local show. I had met them briefly at a prior show and they seemed like very nice folks. They had wonderful things to say about you two, by the way. Well, yesterday Lois and Pam wanted to see Aiko so we ran home, picked her up and took her to the showgrounds to visit. I was curious what a veteran showperson would make of her. They both really liked her and before I knew it Pam had a show lead on her and was working her in an empty ring. This dog had never had a show lead on in her life, always a harness and leash, so I wasn't really sure how she would react. Dale, I'm telling you I couldn't have been more proud of her if I'd given birth to her myself! She took to it like a pro considering she was in a strange place with strange people and a strange (to her, anyway) leash. She balked a couple of times but I had told Pam that she was a total whore for a treat (and she is) so she had no problems getting her moving again. They said she was a show natural, good coat and teeth, tail hanging on the judge's side, and that beautiful gait. They said that she'd finish easily in no time. Well, that lit my dog show fire again so I'm going to start working with her a little bit.

I've attached a few photos. I sized them down to save you phone time downloading so I hope they come through OK. If they don't, let me know and I'll figure out how to fix it. The thing hanging out of the side of her mouth in the picture of her under the red tree is a chew toy that she was working over at the time. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to fall in love with this girl. You and Jane have my utmost respect, both as breeders and people, and there aren't that many folks in today's world that I can say that to. If you ever need a reference, please feel free to have people contact me and I'll set them straight.

Again, please forgive me for the time lapse,
Debbie Graddy

I thought you might like to see Payton (born 5/15/07) now.  He is still the love of my life.

By the way, I often keep Hercules, who friends of mine, Sue McDougal and Newell Williams bought from you two years ago as a Christmas gift for their daughter, Errett.  He is more playful than Payton--probably as a result of living with a more rambunctious family.  He and Payton simply adore each other.  Their temperament and dispositions are practically identical.  They have a grandfather in common.

Dear Jane,

I would like to take this moment to thank you so much for posting your website on Japanese Chins.  It literally saved my Chins life!  My sister's Chin delivered one puppy in March via emergency c-section.  She died 2 days later of an infection leaving behind a helpless 6 oz. 2 day old puppy!  My sister was devastated and unable to care for the puppy and all attempts to find a surrogate came up empty.  She gave the puppy to me unable to face what she was sure was going to be another death.  After a vet visit and getting a list of needed supplies, I embraced this new life with sheer determination that this puppy WOULD live and that her mother's death would NOT be for nothing!!!  Between feedings I got online and researched anything and everything and that's how I found your website.  Although other website gave me great information on bottle feeding, it was your website that gave me all the information on hypoglycemia.  After reading about it, I purchased a bottle of Karo syrup and put in my pantry to be on the safe side.  Twice now in three months, we've had to use it to bring her out of a seizure.  Her vet has run blood work for glucose levels and uped her food in take daily as she needs the extra for her system.

Had I not read about the Karo syrup on your website I sure I would have lost her by now to a seizure.  I've also read that bottle fed puppies are more prone to hypoglycemia as puppies though my vet said he hopes she will out grow it as an adult.  Just the same, she's always with one of us and we follow the rules that we've read on your website and make sure that she's not over active, eats regularly, no red meat, no fried food, low stress, etc....

We adore her and our other 3 dogs have welcomed her as well.  We named her Matea, which means, "gift of God" because she truly is.  My sister, who recently saw her for the first time since I took her, couldn't believe she actually survived and cried when she held her! (she lives in Arizona and I live in New Mexico. I flew in and drove the puppy back here and she'd flown in for a visit.)  I told my sister I'd read a lot of good advice on the internet and especially off your website.  I can not thank you enough for posting this information for others like myself.  I've had schnauzers, one rat terrier and the rest have all been pound mutts...usually terriers of some sort...which are fairly sturdy, independent dogs.  Having Matea has been a whole new experience and though I wasn't quite prepared for it, our family has embraced it and we adore her so very much much.  We've learned so much about the breed and our 8 lb rat terrier, Mya, adores her and is so gentle with her...Matea is usually the one we have to calm down!!!!   Just know today that you have saved the life of one puppy TWICE!!!!

Sincerely,
Cat Sullivan

Hi Dale,

Just a quick update - Kiki is doing great and we just adore her. She is very good natured as well as a little feisty. The girls have already gotten a Halloween costume for her. (See pix!)

Thanks again for the best dog ever! Shelley

Hello,

Thank you for your help at the show. I do appreciate your expertise and help. I am enclosing a picture of Yochi at the hotel. She is pooped after her first big win! ha Us too.

It is such a pleasure to show one of your lovely dogs.

Thanks again. Liz

Baby Takara has been here for just three weeks - and is now just over three months old. Here she is in her fashionable pink sweater, en route to visit all the lovely ladies in our rural post office. To say that business came to
a complete halt would be putting it mildly!!!

Thank-you again, Dale and Jane!

Geraldine
